Ed Gein was a serial killer who operated around his hometown of Plainfield, Wisconsin. After it was suspected that Ed was involved in the disappearance of a store owner named Bernice Worden, authorities searched his farmhouse and discovered several bowls made of human skulls, a lamp shade made of human skin, a belt made of women’s nipples, and, to top it all off, they found a fresh human heart in the saucepan. An officer then ventured to the back shed where he found was a corpse dangling by the feet from a ceiling beam. It was confirmed that the body belonged to Bernice when they located her head under a bed mattress. Ed admitted he often robbed graves for body parts and wore the parts as a human-flesh suit. He was found legally insane and was committed to a psychiatric hospital, where he died in 1984. The books Psycho and The Silence of the Lambs were based off of Ed Gein and his crimes.
